22 contestants that will be vying for the top crown of Miss Uganda 2019/2020 were on Tuesday night unveiled at the Kampala Sheraton hotel.
It was a night of excitement, glamor and fun as cheerleaders of different participants cheered on whenever their candidate’s name was mentioned. They whistled, chanted and clapped to show their support and if the highest cheers determine the eventual winner, then participants numbers 3 Anshemeza Santina, number 9 Claire Gift Kabahemba, 13 Elizabeth Bagaya and Oliver Nakakande 22 will definitely be the top contenders.
Other contestants include Namawa Rebecca, Carolyne Rukundo, Mariam Muhamed, Gloria Nawanyaga, Braton Braxy Kempango, Nyamatte Mariam, Nabirah Nagawa, Petronella Acen, Nusula Nabirye, Margaret Naimuli, Annie Tricia Tamale, Elizabeth Nakayiza Kigula, Kusiima Bronnie Divine, Sheilah Kababoopi Abwooli, Sibella Raphaela Nsiimire, Angel Akullo, Beatrice Aol and Uwimbabazi Lucky.
This year, there is a lot at stake while Brenda Nambi and team are choosing the replacement of the current Miss Uganda Quiin Abenakyo. Not because the prize is bigger, Nambi, the organiser and their choice of a winner last year surprised Uganda when the contestant did better than she was expected to at the Miss World contest in China.
It was an achievement that surprised both the organisers and the country that selecting a winner this year maybe even more rigorous in a bid to prove that 2018 was no fluke.
